Love Thy Prophet....

“We once had a Teacher
The Teacher of teachers,
He changed the world for the better
And made us better creatures,
Oh Allah we’ve shamed ourselves
We’ve strayed from Al-Mu'allim,
Surely we’ve wronged ourselves
What will we say in front him?
Oh Mu'allim...”
-Sami Yusuf

The Wise Owl always says that we are not qualified to speak about Prophet Muhammad SAW because of his status in the eyes of God AlMighty. I must say that I agree with the Wise Owl and I’m the least qualified person to talk about him but I feel that I need to share on how I came to know about this wonderful person named Muhammad SAW and how I see him through my eyes..

When I was small, I remember studying about Prophet Muhammad SAW as one of the Prophets in Islam. I knew He was an orphan, he married khadijah r.a.and he was the last Prophet. That was all that I knew. After that, I never did give Prophet pubh much thought. I didn’t see the importance of it.

A couple years ago, the Wise Owl asked me, ‘sister, do you know our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW?” . I looked at him and thought, what an odd question to ask! Of course I know Prophet Muhammad SAW. All Muslims know him. So, I told the Wise Owl what I know about our Prophet pbuh. The Wise Owl then said, “ sister, you do not know our beloved Prophet pbuh but you only know of him. There is a difference. If you know him, you would know everything about him. The way he eats, sleep, talk, laugh, treat people, pray, treat his wives, how many children did he have and so on”

Ouch!!! The Wise Owl did have point. I was quite ignorant about the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW so how I can say I know him? I can’t say I know Brad Pitt or Colin Firth just because I read about them in the magazines. Both of them definitely don’t have a clue who am I, but, did you know that our beloved Prophet pbuh will recognise us as his ummah on judgment day?

“Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam went to the (Baqi`) cemetery and said, “May you be secured from punishment, O dwellers of abode of the believers! We, if Allah wills, will follow you. I wish we see my brothers.” The Companions said, “O Messenger of Allah! Are not we your brothers?” He said, “You are my Companions, but my brothers are those who have not come into the world yet.” They said; “O Messenger of Allah! How will you recognize those of your Ummah who are not born yet?” He said, “Say, if a man has white-footed horses with white foreheads among horses which are pure black, will he not recognize his own horses?” They said; “Certainly, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “They (my followers) will come with bright faces and white limbs because of Wudu’; and I will arrive at the Haud (Al-Kauthar) ahead of them.” [Muslim]

There is a catch though. If we want him to recognise us, we must really know him inside out and follow his teachings. Only then are we qualified to declare ourselves as Muhammad’s ummah.

So, I made the decision to start anew and get to know my beloved Prophet pbuh all over again. I started with reading his biography. SubhanAllah!!! After reading about his life, character and attitude, I fell, heads over heels in love with him! He is more romantic than any Prince Charming that I have read about! At least Prophet Muhammad SAW is real whereas Prince Charming is a figment of imagination of an old man named,  Disney!

To me, Prophet pbuh was truly the most magnificent man ever created. He was gentle and kind. I become choked up with emotion when I read about his trials and the obstacles he faced whilst trying to preach about Islam. I admire his patience and steadfastness. His faith in God Almighty was unshakeable. He was truly one of a kind. I remember crying my heart out when I came to the part when death was approaching him.

Suddenly, there was a person, he said salaam.

'May I come in?' he asked.

But Fatimah did not allow him enter the room.

'I'm sorry, my father is ill,' said Fatimah, turned her body back and closed the door.

She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and asked Fatimah,

'Who was he, my daughter?'

'I don't know, my father. It was the first time for me to see him,'Fatimah said gently.

Then, Rasulullah looked at his daughter with trembled look, as if he wanted to reminisce about every part of her daughter's face.

'Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who separates the companionship in the world.

He is the death angel,' said Rasulullah .

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry. The death angel came toward him,

But Rasulullah asked why Jibril did not come along with him.

Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the soul of Habibullah and the leader of the earth.

'O Jibril, explain me about my rights in front of ALLAH?' Rasulullah

asked with a weakest voice.

'The doors of sky have opened, the angels are waiting for your soul.'

'All jannats open widely waiting for you,' Jibril said.

But, in fact, all this did not make Rasulullah relieved, his eyes were still full of worry.

'You are not happy to hear this news?' asked Jibril.

'Tell me about the destiny of my people in future?'

'Don't worry, O Rasul ALLAH. I heard ALLAH tell me: 'I make jannat

haram for every one, except the people of Muhammad who are inside it,' Jibril said.

It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work.

Slowly, Rasulullah's soul was pulled. It was seemed that the body of

Rasulullah was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.

'Jibril, how painful this sakaratul maut is!'

Rasulullah uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat beside her bowed deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

'Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril?'

Rasulullah asked the Deliverer of Wahy.

'Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his condition of sakaratul maut,' Jibril said.

Not for a while, Rasulullah uttered a groan because of unbearable pain.

'O ALLAH, how great is this sakaratul maut. Give me all these pains, don't give it to my people.'

The body of Rasulullah became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore..

His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah.

'Uushiikum bis shalati, wa maa malakat aimanuku - take care of the saalat and take care the weak people among you.'

Outside the room, there were cries shouted each other, sahabah held each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah's mouth which became bluish.

'Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?' - 'My people, my people, my people.'

And the life of the noble man ended.”

(excerpt from www.ummah.com).

Even as I’m writing this, I couldn’t stop the tears from coursing down my cheeks. The pain of longing is so acute and I feel that I have indeed lost someone very dear to me.

This Thursday, 12 Rabi Al-Awaal 1434 ( 24th January, 2013), marks the day Prophet Muhammad SAW was born into this world. Many Islamic scholars have discourage us from celebrating the birthday of the Prophet pbuh as his Companions never did. I can understand why they do that because Prophet pbuh himself had never asked us to celebrate his birthday but I think, on his birthday, we should remember him as a great man and remind others of the history of his life. There is no need for huge celebration or a feast, but, honor him by getting to know who Prophet Muhammad SAW really was and follow his teachings. By following his teaching, only then we can claim to be part of his ummah and plead for him intercede for us on the Day of Judgment.

For those who only know of our beloved Prophet pbuh, perhaps the time has come for you to get to know him better. Till his dying breath we were on his mind so why can’t we remember him till our last?

“Say (O beloved Prophet, to the people): If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 3:31)

Intentions....

“All great acts are ruled by intention. What you mean is what you get.” ― Brenna Yovanoff

I do get questioned by people as to why I do certain things and most of it relates to religion. My non-Muslim friends will ask me my reasons for doing certain things such as why do I wear the hijab, why do I pray 5 times a day, why do I always wear an abaya, why don't I drink alcohol or eat pork and many other questions.

Honestly, I don’t mind answering them as I am used to answering these types of questions whilst I was studying abroad. I find that when I take my time to explain to them properly, more often than not, they became intrigued with Islam instead of becoming afraid. I could see that the reason they asked a lot of questions, was not to annoy me but they really wanted to know more about Islam. To them, I was this tiny midget, practising alien religion and wearing funny colorful headgear.

However, it is not quite the same story with my Muslim friends and acquaintances. When a Muslim friend asked me why I wear hijab, I try very hard not to be judgmental. I must not assume that, just because they are all born Muslim, they know what Islam is. I mean, look at me!! I was clueless for a good number of years before God decided to ‘enlighten’ me. But, you know, it is not easy. We would always assume that as a Muslim, a person should know certain basic facts about Islam, like wearing the hjiab is compulsory for the women, but that's not quite the case sometimes.

The Wise Owl always tells me that understanding comes from God Al Mighty and He does not bestow it on everyone. He only bestows it on whom He wishes. There are people who, no matter how many times we explain, they will never understand and will continue to argue their way through.

“Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).”
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:7

So now, I always try to give, my Muslim friends and acquaintances, the benefit of a doubt. I learn to differentiate those who are sincere and those who ask questions with the intention to annoy or irritate. I have a better control of my temper now (well, most of the time). I don't breathe fire that often now, though, you may still catch a wisp of smoke coming out of my nostril in some special cases, so more often than not, I don’t get annoyed or irritated. I just feel sorry for them. I fervently hope that God never seals my heart or my ears.

In Islam, everything starts with intention. Intention is something that is born in the heart and it is the very thing that steers our actions. For example, when we buy a car, the type of car depends on our intention. If the car is to help us move around, then we will get a reasonably priced practical car. If our intention is to show off to others, then we will get an expansive car which may not be very practical. Similarly, the way we dress. We need to ask ourselves, who are we trying to please when we dress a certain way.

More often than not, we lie to ourselves about our intention but we forget that our true intention is known to God Almighty.

“Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.”
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:225

“Be quite sure that to Allah doth belong whatever is in the heavens and on earth.Well doth He know what ye are intent upon: and one day they will be brought back to Him, and He will tell them the truth of what they did: for Allah doth know all things.”
Surah An-Nur 24:64

Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying, “Verily, deeds are only with intentions. Verily, every person will get rewarded only for what they intended. Therefore, whoever emigrated for worldly reasons or for a woman, then his emigration is for that to which he has emigrated.
[Sahih Bukhari, Book 1, Number 1]

I am not a saint but I am a firm believer of never lying, to myself, about my intention, because in the past, when I do, karma will always come back and slap me in the face. I have learned to train my heart to whisper the correct intention. I don’t succeed all the time but I still nevertheless try. If I die, I die trying.

Now, when I’m asked by my fellow Muslim friends and acquaintances, questions like, why do I wear hijab, why do I wear black abaya, why do I choose to be covered all time and other religious questions, I simply answer, “Because God commanded me so and I want to obey Him.”
There is no other answer really. To me, it’s a matter of whether I want to obey my Creator or not. Simple. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. The Commandments are very clear in the Quran and also Hadith. There is no such thing as I can pick and choose, verses in the Holy Quran which I want to follow or leave. It is absurd to tell God that I’m not ready to obey Him in certain matters. When will I ever be ready? Probably never! I realised also, that there is no point arguing with others as to why either. They too, have the choice as to whether to obey Him or not but, I sincerely hope that if they choose not to obey, they do not encourage others to follow them.

“Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah.for Allah is strict in punishment.”
Surah Al-Madiah 5:2

Prophet (S.A.W.) said, “If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect on that account. And if anyone invites others to follow error, the sin, of which he is guilty, will be equivalent to those of the people who follow him (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect on that account.” [Reported by Imam Muslim]

I also notice that once I get my intention right, things will just fall into place nicely. If we do things for the sake of Allah SWT then He will take care of us. If we choose to disobey Him, then we only have ourselves to blame for our unhappiness and grief. So, check your heart and make sure your intention steers you in the right direction….

Mommy, are we rich?

A year ago, my little daughter asked me, “Mummy are we rich?”. Her friends in school were talking about parents’ occupation and they were comparing notes.

A couple years ago, the Wise Owl had asked me the very same question. He asked, “sister, are you rich?”. At first I was affronted because I thought it was very rude for anyone to ask such personal question plus I thought the Wise Owl was being nosy. But, then again, the Wise Owl is not one who is bothered with wealth or richness and he himself has chosen to live a simple life. Aaahhh….this must be a trick question! So I answered, “ I am Alhamdulillah sufficient, I’m not poor neither am I rich”. I then beamed at him and gave him one of my dazzling smile, thinking I had answered his question correctly.

The Wise Owl then gently told me, “Sister, you are actually a billionaire”. Confused, I looked at him and said, “Huh?”. I mean, does he mean that I’m going to be one or the fact that if I were to convert my money into Indonesian Rupiah, I am actually one! This, is one explanation I really need to hear so I said “Ok, I’m all ears, please enlighten me”.

The Wise Owl told me that I have an abundance of valuable treasures that are priceless. My treasures can’t be purchased for any amount of money because no one can afford to do so. Hhhmmm…..interesting…..I don’t have a family heirloom, not that I know of! What could it possibly be?

The Wise Owl then asked me to do a post-mortem of my life. He told me that I am healthy and health is something no one, not even the doctors can give assurance of it. Health can’t be purchased for a price because God determines our state of health. There are people who were born with health issues and they spend their entire savings rectifying it.

Next, he said, I have education and understanding. Anyone can pay for an education but understanding comes from God AlMighty. I have children, not one but four! Some couples spend vast amount of money going through medical procedures, trying to conceive a child but to no avail. Children are also our most expansive treasures.
Another one of the most valuable and expansive treasure, that I have posses, that people are willing to pay a huge amount of money for is, happiness and contentment. A rich man may have all the money in the world but can still remain unhappy.

The Wise Owl had actually given me a slap of reality. He is right. I am extremely rich. I have priceless blessings and barakah that has been bestowed upon me by God AlMighty, where no amount of money can ever purchase. I guess it depends on how a person defines ‘rich’.

I have met people who are rolling in money, so to speak. There are some kind ones but there are also those who are quite the opposite. It seems that, the more wealth they acquire, the stingier they become. They refuse to part with their money for charity for fear it might decrease.

One thing that I have learnt, is that, none of our so called wealth belongs to us. Everything we have belongs to God. Nothing belongs to us.

To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: and He is Most High, Most Great.”
            Surah As-Shura 42:4

We are only the custodian of the wealth. We can use it for our own consumption but we must also share it with others. If we don’t, God may take it all away in a blink. In the portion of wealth that is given to us, includes a portion for the poor hence, that is why we must pay zakat.

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,”
Surah Al-Humaza 104:1-4
Giving away money for charity will no way decrease our wealth but God will increase it instead.

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم as saying: “Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim Vol. 4, Hadith 6264)

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) related that Allah, the Most Blessed and High, said: O son of Adam, spend, I will spend on you. The right hand of Allah is full and overflowing. Ibn Numair said: Overflowing and nothing would diminish it, by overspending day and night.
Sahih Muslim

The Prophet also said: "There is not a day in which the obedient slaves rise in the morning except that two angels descend, and one of them says: 'O Allaah! Compensate the one who spends.' The other angel says: 'O Allaah! Destroy the wealth of the one who is niggardly."
[Al-Bukhaari and Muslim

Volume 2, Book 24, Number 491:Narrated Abu Huraira
Allah’s Apostle said, “If one gives in charity what equals one date-fruit from the honestly-earned money — and Allah accepts only the honestly-earned money — Allah takes it in His right (hand) and then enlarges its reward for that person (who has given it); as anyone of you brings up his baby horse, so much so that it becomes as big as a mountain.”

The wealth that was given to us is actually a test to us. God wants to see whether we will keep it all to ourselves or share it as we should.

“You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun”
Surah Al-Imram 3:186

Wealth can either elevate you in the eyes of God or it can destroy you. Let me tell you a true story about this person whom I know. He has been blessed with an abundance amount of wealth. Every time he gives away portions of his money for charity, he finds that his wealth increased ten folds. He is very discreet about his charities and takes the trouble to find the rightful candidate whom he can share his wealth with. I do envy him for his capacity to do good and my envy, is one that is allowed in Islam.

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Envy is permitted only in two cases: Of a man whom Allah gives wealth, and he disposes of it rightfully, and of a man whom Allah gives knowledge, and he applies and teaches it.” [Bukhari]

I have always thought that if I was in his shoes, I would probably not have the same will power or generosity that he has. I would probably squander my money lavishly on things that I don’t need…

So, back to my daughter’s question, I told her that we are amongst the richest people on the face of earth as we may not have everything that we want but we do have everything that we need….

Till Death Do Us Part....

Love, n. A temporary insanity curable by marriage.” Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

Let me start by saying that I’m not a marriage counselor nor am I a marital expert. I’m the least qualified person to comment on anyone’s marriage and probably the worst example to follow. However, in my line of work, I do see many couples who have problems in their marriage.

The Old Wise Man used to pester me to take up Syariah law and the Wise Owl was always telling me to go back to basic. Both of them said that we need to go back to the teachings of our Prophets pbuh. That reason and also the fact that I do not want to be questioned later, made me decide to take up studies in Syariah. Being very dramatic (but not a drama queen!), I would, forever, have vision in my mind of possible scenes between me and the Al Mighty on Judgment Day. In this case, the scene would be, God asking me “What have you done with the time I Gave you?”, of which I will answer “ I studied law and became a lawyer” , then He will ask. “Did you study My Divine Law?”. Since I will not be able to fib, my mouth will answer” NO!”, Then God will say” Are you telling me that you chose to study and practice man-made law over My Law?” Gulp!! Yikes!! Pretty scary……

Let me tell you something, studying Islamic law had really opened my eyes to many things. There are so many formulas of happiness that are not known to man because they were ignorant of it, and one of the formulas is the marriage potion. Somehow, I feel it in my heart, that if we follow these formulas to the tee, we would be the happiest people on earth.

Most of the common complaints made by the spouses, to me, were, lack of respect, irresponsible and failure to meet expectations, which all combined and led to loss of love between two parties.

If you think back, we have actually been deceived by fairy tales concocted by others. For example, we grew up with ‘Snow White’ and ‘Cinderella’ (well, I did and if you didn’t that means I am very much older than you!) In both stories, the prince charming, came dashing through the woods with their steed and rescued the princess and they live happily ever after. The prince remains handsome for all eternity and the princess never have wrinkles or stretch marks. I mean….seriously?????? Do we still believe that? Those stories are called ‘fairy tales’ for goodness sake!!! They don’t exist in the real world because in Islam there is no such thing as ‘fairies’, No fairies hence no tales. We have other mystical being such as the jinn, which is specifically mentioned in the Quran but we do not have ‘jinn tales’ do we?

He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.”
Surah Ar-Rahman 55:14-15

I think most of us, myself included, had pre-conceived ideas of how our ‘prince charming’ a.k.a poor husband will be, before we entered into the marriage. We had expectations of how romantic he will be, how he will sweep us off our feet every day, how he will treat us like princesses, shower us with gifts, take us for candlelight dinners, buy us the biggest diamond that he can find etc etc. For the men, they have notions of how, their wives will not be tarnished by time, who can cook, clean, take care of the children and have a career all at the same time without any problem. Sometimes, it is not the fairy tales that is the culprit but, observation other people’s marriage. We probably see the other exhibitionist couple who is extremely happy and the husband is extremely caring, romantic; the wife is super gorgeous, slim and the list goes on but that is often, on the exterior. we do not see the cracks underneath and I can assure you, there are cracks.

Well….I hate to be the one, to burst anyone’s bubble but I feel that I need to, in this case, as, it may save a marriage.

Repeat after me....No marriage is perfect. Even our beloved Prophet pbuh had wives problems. To me, we just have to learn to make the marriage work by following the advice and teachings of the Holy Quran and our Prophets pbuh. When I say follow the Prophet pbuh, I DO NOT mean, for the men, to take up 4 wives! Trust me, if you can’t make one wife happy, you will never make the other happy either and both will drag you to Hell.

Hadith - Sunan of Abu Dawood #2128, Narrated Abu Hurairah, r.a.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When a man has two wives and he is inclined to one of them, he will come on the Day of resurrection with a side hanging down [i.e. paralyzed].”

The point I’m trying to make here is, Do Not Have Expectations. We human are created imperfect, which means that we have flaws. Our flaws could be physical or in our character. Being a husband or a wife, is already a huge responsibility to shoulder, without adding in the expectations. We want others to accept us for what we are so, why can’t we accept our spouses as they are? It could be that our expectation bar was set too high for any real human to reach. If that is the case, then, no man or woman can ever make you happy and you might end up alone.

Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Invariably they are both disappointed.”
 Albert Einstein

For the husbands, we women are not immortal. We age and we develop stretch marks after giving birth. Like you, we will eventually have wrinkles and white hairs but we will try our level best to look pleasing to our husbands. Though we are master jugglers and we can multi-task, please remember that we are not superwoman. We do need help and we particularly like it when help is rendered voluntarily. You see, despite public generalisation, we do not like to nag so help us by reducing the possibility of us nagging. Like you, we also like to be pampered, so, feel free to pamper us anytime. Respect your wives and you will find yourself being respected in return. Love us unconditionally and you will find a loyal mate for life.

“Book 8, Number 3466:Hadith Bukhari       : AbuHuraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Woman is like a rib. When you attempt to straighten it, you would break it.And if you leave her alone you would benefit by her, and crookedness will remain in her.

Beloved Prophet SAW said: “Best among you are those who behave well with their women.”hadith

Rasulullah said: "The mu'min husband should not despise his mu'min wife because if there is any quality he dislikes in her he will certainly be pleased another."hadith

For the wives, men are actually from Mars! Hahaha…just kidding. Men were not created with our emotional package. If they were, we will have our husband bursting into tears whilst watching “titanic” or any other love story. I don’t know about you, but, weeping men makes me uncomfortable! I don’t know whether to hand them the tissue or slap them back to reality.  So I rather not have men who are 'weepers'.  Anyway, husbands are the leader of the family and they are our ‘Imam’. Whether we like it or not, when we married him, we have agreed to obey him. Obey here means to listen to the good advice and teachings and not to become a slave. Like us, husbands will also age and may acquire a belly or two, so we must never compare him to Brad Pitt, unless we want him to compare us to Angelina Jolie! We must respect our husbands and be his support. Like us, husbands also like to be pampered and praised. Sometimes, small things such, as saying ‘thank you’ goes a long way with them as they also like to feel appreciated like us.  Throw away the ‘prince charming’ dreams because you will be disappointed with him if he doesn’t turn into one, and; how do we know prince charming is perfect? He may be very handsome but it could be it is because he spends hours in front of the mirror and hundreds of ringgit on facial treatment! Remember ‘Gaston’ from the movie “Beauty and the Beast”?  Do not let your husband be the ugly frog who never did turn into a prince!

Rasulullah saw said: "The woman who dies in the state of her husband being pleased with her will enter Jannah ." Rasulullah said: "The woman who dies in the state of her husband being pleased with her will enter Jannah ." hadith

Rasulullah saw said: "The best of wealth is a righteous woman who pleases her husband when he sees her; she obeys whenever he commands her and when her husband is absent she protects her chastity and respect."hadith

Rasulullah said: "The best of women is one that pleases her husband when he glances at her; obeys him when he commands her and does not oppose him and displease him in matters regarding her body and wealth."hadith

I myself have tried this formula. Is it a success? Well…..so far, my husband and I are not at each other’s throat so I suppose it is but whether it will last, I think, that is something that both of us have to continuously work at. One thing for sure, I noticed, that, once I dispense with my expectations, I am able to appreciate my husband more hence give him the respect that he deserve. I still occasionally, drive him mental and he still occasionally, make me wanna scream but that is the part where we are being human. It takes two to tango and it takes two to make a marriage work. Bottom line is, rectify your intentions, recite “Bismillah” adopt the formula, mix it to the best of your ability and then….. tawakkAllah……
